There were a few threads recently about a CCIE study group. Nothing really came together, but I was wondering how you're all doing on your respective paths?

I just booked my lab for September 11th, in Hong Kong.

I hit a life speed bump so studies stopped. Should be starting the studies again pretty soon. Hoping to do the written before end of year.

Received a copy of the CCIE Written OCG from my employer. Reading it, taking notes, testing stuff, reading white papers it references. I currently have the mindset "I'll see how far I get".

My boss protested six months ago when I mentioned CCIE. He was like "You have too little experience, and that is a high-level certification which takes more effort than you can imagine". I asked again two weeks ago, he looked at me for a few seconds, said "Okay" and let me order the book. So I am feeling good about it, I must have proven something along the way.

Meanwhile, girlfriend thinks I'm crazy because "I am having way too much fun at something other people call work".

Just started on the written studies last week. I am aiming to take it by the end of the year. No game plan on the lab yet too far off.

That's good stuff fellas. Hopefully we can all get our digits before the V5 curriculum is released :S.

Reggie, before started my studies I got a similar speech from my employer. At the end of the day, I think it's because they're afraid of losing you or they don't feel like increasing your salary lol.

sirsamon, are you the guy that has a gigantic ciscopress library? I have this vague recollection of your avatar next to a few pictures of stacks of material lol.

edit:

Answered my own question: http://sirsamon.com/CCIE/?cat=7

looks juicy

Sirsamon, that is insane! Nice looking setup. Wish I had the money to invest in that kind of gear.

Good luck to all of y'all by the way.

Anyone wanting to setup a study session group of some sort? I have completed the written but working on the lab.

Provide some updates guys, where are you currently in your studies?

Hope all is going well.

dnetworks, I personally don't have enough time to organize a group unfortunately, if enough members are interested I'd definitely join up though, we could exchange notes and pick each others brains, would be cool.

Completely stopped. I just didn't have the desire to look at the materials. I have decided to take a break from certifications for awhile because I have completed quite a few in the last two years and just need some relaxation for a little or long while.

I'll be sure to pick back up before anything expires though!

Im scheduled for sept 21st. I am picking out some topics right now that I need to revamp on. Going over the doccd and 12.4t configuration guide. I hate to be a downer but I think I will sit this lab a few more times after this.

I can't second that statement enough. At my last job, I used to literally sigh every day I walked in the door. Now, I do split eagles and high-five my coworkers....

They've asked me to stop.

EDIT - As for the CCIE... me personally I have some things I want to do after I finish Security+ and CCNP... like Wireshark, BCNE, Juniper, design stuff.... so much to do and so little time to do it! :P

Written booked for this coming Thursday, unless the feeling of "need a bit more" overruns and forces me to postpone it.
