Hello everyone,

I am trying to find a better and more ideal way to do this installation. I have already spent many days and sweat running Ethernet cables all over the attic to fix my internet problem here at my Hotel Property.

There is a photo of my properties "top view" layout. There is an attic above all of the rooms in which I can crawl through and run the wires, which I have already done. Access Points 1,2,3 and 4 are always unstable and most of the time never work. Even if I am in the room right below the access point. I have come to the conclusion that it is because of the fact that my three very large hot water tanks that are located in the boiler room are in the same building as those four routers, thus the routers cannot "breathe". Access Points 5,6,7 which are also in the attic are just fine and they also work just fine. The operate in a much lower temperature (still pretty hot up there).

I am trying to fix this problem.. I have purchased an Omni Directional antenna from TP-Link with 15dbi Gain. However, Where would I install this? Is there another solution to the problem?

By the way, the access point are all Zyxel G-3000H Units. They are all POE and all ethernet wires from each unit are ran to the office/lobby about 250 ft away. Also, placing the units outside is not plausible due to the inclement weather and no way of hiding them. they can be placed in any of the storage/electric rooms however..

What is the best way this can be done? Please help!

what channels are the AP's 1-4 running on?
there may be some interference.

What should they be? I can change them out. I am not sure what they are, Id have to see.

They should be different, that's what matters. And try to keep a few channels in between. E.g. channel 1, channel 3, channel 6,... And if you have to use the same channel twice, do it on access points that are far away from each other.

actually 1,6 & 11 here in the USA, to have 3 non-overlapping channels.

I am also running into the same problems in a hotel environment. All my AP are also in the attic because of space,


1. Attic is not a place where you want to Access Points, they tend to overheat since they are on 24/7/365 in the extreme heat, also calls for shorter life of the AP (you have to do, what you have to do sometimes)
a. resetting them on a regualr basis helps resolve the freezing up problem. (we reset ours every 4-6 hrs,if you have that happening)

what we did was put a new Electrical line just for the internet devices and use Powerline adaptors (500MB Speed) -> switches->AP's 1,2,3,4.
instead of long cat5/6 runs all over the place.
the longest CAT5/6 runs will be between the switch and each AP (PoE switches also work here).
we have also installed a simple light switch to that outlet in a storage room nearby so the front desk/Mgr's can easily turn off the devices and turns them back on reseting the devices when they freeze up.


2. use Channels Ch. 1, 6, 11, and 1 for AP's 1-4, to avoid as much interference from each AP as possible.

i just upgraded our hotel to
Ubiquiti UAP-LR they look like thin smoke detectors
so far they are working pretty good in the attic
and comes with a controller so you can see which one is up and running vs. not responding, and you can see your clients on them and how much bandwith they are using.
