Finally sat for the exam yesterday, and nailed it. Had 17 seconds to go when I finished.

Maybe now people will take me seriously when I tell them their diagrams are d*cked up.

Thanks! So.... how do I get an updated CCNA card with the new expiration date? Do they automatically mail it, or do I have to order one?

You have to order one if you really want it. Anyone actually use them? I throw them away...

I've used it.. To show other IT guys that Cisco actually gives you one. Laughter followed.

Congrats on the pass! I wouldn't get the CCNA card, not worth the money.

How much is it? Y'all are breaking my heart, btw. I am so proud of my CCNA card, it's the highest education I have earned thus far... Now I feel like a chump.

It's not that, in fact, be proud.
But I hardly use the card in real life, and most people don't even keep it.

Congratulations, and at the same time be careful with that attitude. No one likes a know-it-all, and it makes things 100x worse when you're wrong. Just a friendly warning.

About the card, I keep it with me, but I haven't had much use for it. I've only had to show it once during an interview. I keep it as more of a reminder for myself of the journey I've taken so far. Maybe if I had done a 2 week boot camp it would be a different story, but being completely self-taught, I'm proud of it.

card? you get a card? I'd skip that, and would be more interested in getting the cert logo's for the resume.

oh, and congrats on the pass.

Congrats! Can I ask you how long it took? I'm studying for my ROUTE as well, and I've been working on it, on and off for about 3 months and I'm feeling like I'll never finish. I came off of the CCNA all energized, but Summer's come and my energy to study instead of getting outside has sapped...

I'm proud of doing my CCNA, it's one of the more important achievements I've done (and completed). It's one thing to be proud of yourself, it's another thing for others to respect it, which a card won't change. Pride is for yourself, humility is for others :)

I actually keep all my CCxP cards in my wallet just in case I ever need to bust it out and... well I dont know what I would do with it... BUT i got em just in case :D

And yeah you have to order a new one if you want it. they dont send you an updates CCNA card or any others when you renew or upgrade. You just get the card you just earned.

Oh no, I totally get that. Just that where I work I have been getting it in reverse for a few years (the know-it-alls who pull rank and are usually wrong), and it would be nice for a change to be able to back up my position at the planning table.

Congrats on the pass.

All my cards in either laying in a desk drawer somewhere, or tossed in the trash.

Does anyone put the logo's on their resume? I just list the certs.

Congrats on the pass.

I keep my card in my wallet. Along with the A+, Network+, Security+ cards, I didn't pay to get the MS cards. I also used to have my Novell CNE, and CNA cards, but they finally expired the certifications so I ditched them. Never used them for anything. The few times I have had to verify my certifications I have used the email thing from Cisco.
