Would a J2300 be sufficient enough to become familiar with Juniper without being too far behind? I'd like to get at least one router to mix with my Cisco ones for interop labbing and such.

Dang. I had a feeling someone was gonna say something that wasn't cheap :) Good to know though. I'll have to keep an eye out for a deal on one.

You can find the 100s for reasonable if you keep at it on eBay, but yeh they are a little pricey. The thing is you get a sweet little box with the full power of Junos. There's (almost) nothing you can't do with those little guys.

A J2300 should be enough to get familiar with JUNOS. That and some Olives.

I'll keep an eye out for both. I've seen a lot of clients start using Juniper and Brocade so I'd like to get some hands on experience peering, etc. with them. Thanks guys.

Brocades are expensive. We use Netiron XMRs (MLX-E). The minimum lab router would be a CES with a L3 license. But it's pricey.

The SRX100s are pretty cheap and the only thing I know they're kinda limited at doing is some multicast stuff. But if you're just using them to get familiar with Juniper then it'll be perfect.

I'm 8 minutes from owning an SRX100H. I lost out on a SRX210H last week. From what I read the H is better than the B as far as memory licensing goes.

mellowd you weren't kidding. Brocade is spendy and hard to come by. Juniper will do for now.

I thought you were drinking and being silly. My SRX is here and now I get it :)
CLI has some differences as expected but so far I like it. I was pleased to see DHCPv6 on it which the ASA currently has no implementation of.
I've got 3 of the J2300 Base routers on the way too.

"A little pricey"? They're really expensive actually... Nonetheless, I'm ready to sacrifice a couple of extra bucks in order to be sure everything works properly
