Is there any CWNA on the board?? If yes how does the CWNA exam is compared to the CCNA exam??

A couple of years ago I went through a one-week 'bootcamp'-type class for CWNA, but I never took the exam afterwards. The training and the labs were pretty straightforward. I'd imagine a month of studying in the evenings would be more than enough to prepare for the exam.

I'm sat in a hotel now about to attend the ccna-w training for 5 days starti tomorrow.

It best be good as the beer in this hotel is way way way too expensive

I have always wanted to go after CWNA, but the study equipment has been a little to steep.

Day 1 was pretty boring, lots and lots and lots of theory regarding modulation etc. Looks like the rest of the week is going to be more practical, configuring controllers, converting AP's, using WCS etc...

Wait a minute, I thought CWNA was vendor neutral/theory training?

What equipment are you guys configuring?

I thought about it and I think they mean CCNA - Wireless?

I was wondering about the CWNA vendor neutral stuff. I wouldn't think you need equipment for it.

Heh, and here I was thinking they were talking about Certified Wireshark Network Analyst.

Well nobody's talking about the CWNP stuff. How was the CCNA-W training?

I've just finished one go round of the Sybex book and I'm going to be doing a wireless install this week 2500 series controller and 15 waps, no radius or tacas though.
Also no WCS, and no decent survey tools.

So, what are we talking about again?

Revbob, just the other month I installed a 2504 controller with some 3602 AP's. A word of warning, you must use 7.2 controller code with the 3600's or else they will not join the controller and will not download the image from them. Syslog goes something along the lines of the 3600 is too new for the controller.
We're just using 2 AP's just now but will be expanding considerably. The main driver for the controller was the HTTP redirects / web-auth and the ease of administration for a non-Cisco-tech guy who is the client.

It was good, a LOT of theory but on the whole it's quite interesting.

You need decent survey tools IMO, I've just convinced management to buy ekahau so can't wait to get started with that!
WCS is cool, although I'm not sure if it's necessary with 15 AP's. We've got hundreds so it's worth it's weight in gold when configuring HA and maps etc.

I've just booked the exam, although not looking forward to it as one of the guys on the course took it immediately and failed :-\

Thanks for the tip dieselboy. My waps are 1141/1261 and so far so good. I'm waiting for them to get mounted, they are mainly in a warehouse/factory type setting with HIGH ceilings.

DanC, I agree about decent survey tools. I'm stuck using whatever free stuff I can cobble together, inSSIDer and ekahau free versions are the best I have right now.

I need a USB 802.11n 5GHz dongle for surveying the 5GHz band.. I bought my laptop which is 2.4 .11n and didn't realise there was no 5 gig support.

If I'm going to buy a dongle I may as well get one which will do everything, like wifi capturing but I don't know what to buy hence haven't bought anything.
Any pointers, welcome

. Because it is vendor-neutral, you have the advantage of being employed by any company or organization having any wireless infrastructure vendor
