unable to contact ip driver

Mon Jan 14, 2008 7:28 am

Hello everybody,
when i ping my local adress or any other adress i'm getting unable to contact ip driver, error code 5, so i can't browse the internet eventhough i am in the network and when i type ipconfig i got all the usual information normally with my local ip assigned.
I'm using windows vista as operating system.
Please anyone can help?
Thank you very much.

post the output from ipconfig /all

Are you on a network or are you a home user?
What hardware are you using and how are you connected to the internet/ network?

the output of the ipconfig/all is:

wireless LAN adapter wireless network connection:

description: Broadcoma 802.11a/b/g WLAN
DHCP enabled: yes
autoconfiguration enabled: yes
IPv4 address: 192.168.66.103 (preferred)
Subnet mask:255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.66.11
dhcp server:192.168.66.11
dns servers:192.168.66.11
netbios over Tcpip:disabled

in addition of course of the MAC adress , etc.....
i am in a networkand the wireless router ip address is 192.168.66.11 and i am taking internet from another network (from another router which has an ip address of 192.168.0.1).... and the later router is connected to the internet.
Hope this information will help.
Thank you very much.

This is a bit confusing, please explain this.
You are part of a network using one router with a gateway of 192.168.66.11 and you are trying at the same time to access the internet by way of a different router with a gateway of 192.168.0.1, is this what you are trying to do ?

Is this a desktop or a laptop?
How many Nics are in your computer?

Is the "network" (192.168.66.11) set as an Ad-hoc?

By the IPconfig printout it is only showing 1 Nic and 1 router, namely the 192.168.66.11 and this would be normal since you can't have two different IP addressing schemes running on 1 Nic at the same time.

It is a laptop and there is 1 NIC (1 wireless and 1 normal).
And the network is not set as an Ad-hoc.
Thank you very much.

If you want to connect to the other router for internet access you will need to manually search for that router under your internet connection as your laptop has taken the other router as its main connection.

ping 127.0.0.1
Unable to contact IP driver, error code 5
ping 192.168.66.11
Unable to contact IP driver, error code 5

Is it possible that i have to reinstall the TCP/IP protocol using the windows vista cd ?

Thank you very much.
