Hi ,

1 - I am trying to install cucm 7 on vmvare and every time its unsuccessfull. I,m supecting that its failing due to network adepter settings of vmware.

Please some one let me know what ip address I have to give in vmware network adopter & what ip I should use in cucm network configuration, so that my laptop can communicate with cucm 7 via vmware. I can use any ip class. In vmware network adepters are available like VMnet0 & VMnet8 etc. please let me know which ip i should use on which interface so that communication can be done in right direction.

2 - I have a bootable dvd of cucm 7 & a extra laptop with 4gb ram. Can I install cucm normaly on laptop or not ? if yes what should be steps for that if no then why ?

3 - I am giving 4GB RAm & 90GB space & using windows 7 enterprise edition.
Supose my laptop NIC ip is 192.168.1.2 & gateway is 192.168.1.1 then what should be settings on VMnet0 & VMnet8 & what ip i have to give in cucm ip & gatways option.

4 - I have laptop with processor - AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile Processor N530 (2.5 GHz, 2MB L2 cache)
4 GB RAM & 320 HDD. Can I use this laptop for cucm through bootable dvd without any hardware compatebilty ?

What is the funcationalty of VMnet0 & VMnet8.

Thank You

Shyam

Depends on how you set it up VMNET0 VMNET8 are probably the NAT interfaces and the Host only. They work exactly as they sound.

For CUCM to communicate with your LAN you need to bridge the interface that your giving the CUCM. Essentially it becomes part of your lan that the laptop is plugging into. So whatever your using on your lan (192.168.1.x for example) you would be giving an ip address from that range to your CUCM box. Might not hurt to give the cucm box a dhcp address to start and later go back and assign an IP after you figure out what it's doing.

Sounds like before you go any further you need to hit up google and figure out the specifics on VMWare.. I know nothing on how you setup your stuff so even if I suggest anything to you it will probably not fit.

For CUCM version 7.x you need an Intel processor. It doesn't support AMD. I was able to install CUC 7.1 in an Intel PC and it was a pain in the ass.

I have just created two in the last few days,

7.0.0
8.6.2

each time i selected,

1) OS - Linux - red-hat enterprise 4 (4.5)

2) 60 gig HD

3) bridged networking.

4) when it starts the disk, select the pre requites check.

5) standard settings smtp.dns, make sure you have a host record for your cucm, network, static not dhcp.

your away.

172.16.23.3 if you want (I assume you are using /24 mask)

Configure network card in the VM in bridged mode.
