Hi,

I have enabled logging to my syslog server on some of my C2960 Switches and i getting some error messages.

I am getting these errors.

What can be the cause for this? I have tested the cable with the CISCO IOS test cable command, and the cables turn out to be fine.
Anyone have a idea why i am getting these errors?

What do you have plugged in to the interfaces?

From the switch to the patch panel, and then i have desktops connected to the ports.

OK. Well on the presumption that the problem isn't happening on the cable, or beyond the patch panel, perhaps you could post a sanitised config of the switch?
Also, this: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/ ... bfd6.shtml - stuff like the output of 'show interface' from a port that's flapping could be useful too.

People are rebooting their laptops/desktops? docking/undocking laptops? Have you verified there is an actual issue? How often does this happen?

Its the same switch, i just made some changes with the description on some ports.

pc and laptops are going into hibernation, they still connect to the network for WOL activities
but are for the most part are asleep.

Oh well you might be right. So you are saying that the interfaces that is going up and down is normal?
We don't have pcs going in hibernation, we have the user automatically log out after 30 mins inactivity.

So the speed changes before and after is also normal? nothing to worry about?

Why does some ports have 10 mb and some 1000mb, was thinking of manually setting the port speeds.

Don't do that.
If there aren't any errors on the ports, and people are working normally then it shouldnt be a problem. Trace back the device that is 10M FD. I've seen APC PDUs only establish 10M connections.

On a connection that is suspect, you can run show controller ethernet controller [port number] to see detailed statistics about the connection, but if there aren't any errors anyway....

Ok i won't do it I will track back the devices that is running at 10m speeds.
