I have 6 PC's in an office, all have pci wireless adapters inside, we have BT Adsl internet and a wireless netgear modem/router. I can get them all to wirelessly connect via the netgear router and access the internet. What i am wanting to do is for all the computers to be able to access each other. Mainly 5 of them to access 1 computer, the one which has the printer and files which need to be shared amongst the other 5. Can this be done with the setup i already have. I have no funds so any work around rather than having to purchase any more equiptment.

Thanks in advance

David

You should be able to do that as is with the set up you have now. You may have to disable or configure appropriately any firewall software on the PCs.

I haven't read the article but I think this should help you:
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp/filesharing.htm

the process to share your printer is similar to file sharing

Just to update,

there are 6 systems

1 uses Vista Ultimate
1 uses Windows Server 2003
4 use XP Professional

The printer and database is on the system with Server 2003

they all connect to the wireless modem/router ( NETGEAR DG834 v3 ADSL2+) to share the adsl internet connection from BT

Do i need just select which folder the database is in on the system with Windows server 2003, and all the other pc's will be able to view this folder

or do i have to create a network which all the pc's are apart of, rather than them being connected to the netgear router

every system stay connected to the router.... on the computer that you want to share a folder/pritner you select the folder/printer that you want to share right click + properties + sharing and the folder/printer should be shared... also to note that you may have to disable/reconfigure firewalling on the computer that act as the server.

Once your printer and files are share I think that you can access the computer from the "my network place" but its been a long time since i did that... and when i was using file sharing i was using the command line to do it

good luck
