Im planning to do a LAN for internet/file sharing and of course LAN game party's
There are people that living far from each another like 1 mile away.... thats a problem.

Cat5 Ethernet cables are not made for long distance connectivity ( 100 meters of length max, otherwise bad connection).

So because i need a connectivity between pc's for long distance I can use Wireless, expensive, and because I prefer wired
and I heard that there is a way to convert CAT5 cable into phone line, because phone lines can be used for long distance connectivity without problems.

So I wonder if there is a way to do that LAN connectivity using phone lines.
RJ45 to phone line, do they exist these adapters? if yes, will this work for me ?

you could do this with a T1/E1 line but that would be expensive and require more infrastructure

No. What makes you think a phone line in the ground is going to be better than Ethernet anyway? Cat5 cables are designed for data.. Telephone cables are not.

well like I said, you could set up a VPN using T1 or E1. that would use the telephone lines technically.
for that diagram however it wont work

also, that probably would not be a LAN party.
WAN party perhaps? well isnt a WAN party like any other online game?
if you want a switched LAN party with clients a mile away, you are not going to be able to do it.
ethernet only extends 100 meters
you might want to setup a server and have your friends connect via your IP address.
I have done this with counter strike back in the day.
did not make my ISP very happy though

hmmm... I was thinking that this is possible because anyways many people are connected to internet by Phone line and the Internet company who is working like a Switch, so we can play online games and share files over internet.

I want to add: For the moment Im planing to this type of connectivity without internet, so only to be like a LAN connection , so everyone can share files and play games, and later maybe add internet connection (but lets forget internet connection for the moment)

Basically your internet connection is provided by a modem, a dsl service is a high speed modem where it is converting your digital signals on your network in to an analog signal that can be sent down the phone line at high frequencies. Hence the need for a filter so you don't get interference between phone and router(modem)

Before anyone nitpicks, yeah I am trying to make it simple. I'm not going to go in to the other end at the exchange you can look that up yourself

Also to cover the longer distances required by a phone there is a higher voltage (somewhere between 50-90 volts depending on country) on your phone line then you will find on your typical network (somewhere around a couple of volts) and because its not digital its less suceptible to interference and noise (hiss, crackle and popping when you are using the phone)

Also you need only two wires for phone, and ideally 4 for a network but a cable contains 8 wires which are wrapped around each other to help reduce interference and xtalk. Phone wires don't do that
