Well, here's my practice lab - Haven't really done too much with it lately.

Rack includes ...

2x 2950T
3x 3550
4x 2620XM
1x 2621XM
3x 2811
1x 2511
2x Dell 760's running ESXi

Looking to acquire a few ASA's sometime down the road - I really like GNS3 but I also love practicing on real equipment.

Finishing up on SWITCH at the moment - This rack is on wheels so I can just spin it around when I'm ready for ROUTE. ;)

Cheers to Networking!

Lol... that's awesome. I ought to "Post a pic of your wife's face when she sees the network setup you did in the living room today"

If she walked into a room and saw that... she might just grow horns and find the nearest axe.

in a fit of rage and frustration that has certainly been a possibility, however not very polite , and probably more of a hassle...

is there anyone on from Network hardware resale here on this forum? just curious, they have pretty well produced video on the youtube, that type of budget would really let me work some magic...

here is my budget repairDesk..

Repair desk. I'm lucky in that Cisco just sends out a replacement where I work.

Why yes, yes it is. I use it quite frequently to replace some cap, resistors, and small (small number pin) chips, on certain Cisco card, for example i can do low lever repair on MGX cards now mainly VXSM, and AXSM full length cards. Anong other things i do fans and again low level wiring repair on power supplies sometimes. This has been the best iron. for crazy repair i go to a local cat who has the full meal deal greenboard manafacturing equipment e.g. the solder bath, and all the ovens. really cool to see his setup. Im still ameature by all means though.

Updated my network rack, totally restructured my network. Removed things and redid the way things were done. Here is what the rack looked like before
Image

and after
Image

Differences include actually mouting the cisco WAP on the wall behind, still need to get it mounted on the cieling but that will look bad so i got some work to do to get it mounted. Collapsed my network from 2 layers of switching down to one. Made no sense to have the 2 tiers when the one switch only had like 3 devices on it. Unracked all the lab stuff i had so i can sell it. never used it anyways and stopped going for the certs, not like i'll ever use them anyways. Made custom patch cables for the patch panel , looks much neater now and much easier to trace. And yes, every single port on that switch is used LOL, the ones that are off are like our xbox's, PS3, and HTPC that only are on when being used. Also moved my UPS onto a shelf where its more visible. Still would like to just get an actual rackmoutable version but to go any larger i would need to get a new circuit ran so its sufficient for now.

My network is also VLAN'd now, i have a main vlan for all basic access, a guest VLAN that is isolated from the standard one. management VLAN thats only accessible from the same VLAN(had to trunk it to my desktop to even access). A Storage VLAN thats also isolated and only iSCSI, NFS use. And a voice VLAN for only my VoIP phones that will eventually have absolute highest QoS. Heres a diagram of my network if anyone wants to see it. Nothing in the pic that could be used against me so its all good hehe.
