I have three computers that are all connected to a hub and a router which is also connected to the hub, all three computers run windows xp as the operating system, and avast free edition in the antivirus which they use. At times they occasionally crush, or the network is slow, I want to find out which tools can I use to improve the network speed and which antivirus can I use, and how can I configure the router (billion) for best network perfomance.

Why do you have a hub and a router? does the router only have a single ethernet port? do you have the ability to post a diagram of your setup?
