for some reason or other i cannot get gns3 working at all. i have downloaded the windows bundle and installed.
i have loaded my ios images and the dynamips link says it is good on test.

when i try adding a router or switch of which i have the ios for i get the following window.

-> apparently a hyperviser is already running on port 7200, would you like to kill all dynamips processes ?

then regardless of pressing yes or no i get:

-> 206- unable to create VM instance "R1"

any ideas where im going wrong ?

ta

stu

Have you thought about killing all extant dynamips processes through task manager?

How strange! I'd experienced something similar after upgrading from 0.72 to 0.73 which I didn't investigate further, I just reinstalled Windows on my box because i'd decided 'it was about time' and had no problems from there. as a stab in the dark, I'd go back and check things like assigned working directory, hypervisors for different ios images you've told gns3 to use and so forth but I'm sure you've already tried that.

I can't remember off had which two files each router adds to the working directory (nvram and boot_options?), but Dynmaips needs to have privileges to the working directory to use it. If you've created a new project it should be your current working directory, if not it will be your /temp. Try running gns3 as admin..

Windows 7? You may try right clicking GNS3 and running as administrator.

In my case I had to go to the project and delete the _lock files under [ project/"project name"/working ]. Once this happened I restarted GNS3 and it worked first time.
