Hi, great overview, but your worked example is actually missing the Sham link commands in step 5.

PE1

router ospf 2 vrf C2
area 0 sham-link 2.2.2.1 2.2.2.2

PE2
router ospf 2 vrf C2
area 0 sham-link 2.2.2.2 2.2.2.1

Ahh, you didn't try connecting OSPF area 0's
