Having been through the Cisco Networking Academy, and having seen the difference between v3 and v4, I agree with much fo what scotsee had to say in his post. The labs do force you to drill down into concepts to the point where you can really see the interconnection between the concepts you've been reading, and how they play out in the 'real world'. I know, 'packet tracer, lol, etc', but the syllabus is rigorous and in-depth. It only really starts to fall apart towards the very end in the final modules through lack of material more than anything else.
Would +1 this post, would also love to see if they continue this approach for the new CCNP syllabus.

I'm about 1/3 done with the Switch portion of the CCNA Exploration, it's significantly shorter then the Network Fundamentals about 7 chapter compared to the 11 in the NF. Allocating time between actual rack time, book time, and family is taxing. I'd be done by now if I didn't have 11 different things to do.. I'm glad you guys thought it waz ight..

Thanks, and btw you can just call me Scott See. I couldn't think of a clever Username so I just used my name.

You are really putting in the hard yards on this Scott. It'd be great if my students had half your motivation and commitment :!:

I can't figure out what Halo is on about though

Just posted this over on http://www.facebook.com/cisconetworkingacademy

Follow the journey of this Networking Academy student as he works towards his CCNA. Given the opportunity to accelerate ahead of the rest of this class Scott threw himself into CCNA Exploration: Network Fundamentals, and not only survived, but is overwhelmingly impressed.
blog/?p=1424

That FB page currently has almost 147,500 fans, so hopefully a bit of that traffic will come over this way.

This is interesting because this is exactly what I'm doing. I'm taking CCNA Exploration as well. It's really great.

I'm taking the first part of this class next mod, even though I already have my CCNA. Hopefully I'll be teaching it after I graduate in March :)

i found this interesting too as i am just about to start the switch portion too. i find the exploration material very in depth and there is a good level of practice via packet tracer. Im studying with 3 hours classroom time a week which gives me good access to practical equipment, and a tutor that would have I love cisco tatooed on his forehead if his wife let him.
i cant wait to get on with the switching part of the course.
