Good practices - comments

Thu Jan 19, 2012 7:38 pm

I learnt today that junipers have a comment option when committing config changes. They're added to the log file and the rollback files comments field when viewing the rollback list.

commit comment yourcomment

Code: Select all
Jan 20 08:27:59  [devicename] mgd[91341]: UI_COMMIT: User 'username' requested 'commit' operation (comment: breaktheinternet)

Cool stuff from a network management point of view.

You could get even fancier and have a junos script that would do this automatically on commit.

Yeah... I'm not sure how you'd script up a ticket number or simple comment in a script.
