A Cable Modem is a good place to start

Cable modem? But of course it'll only work if the provider actually provides internet that way.

i want to provide internet trough cable.in a rural area there is a small tv-company.all the houses have cable.i want them to have internet acces.
so i must make the network data-transfer capable.i know that for every client i will need a splitter and a modem. i want to know what is needed on the provider side, and what are the solutions..

thank you for your answers.

If you're trying to create your own ISP then a forum is the wrong way of doing it.

You're going to need someone who knows what they are doing to take a look at the infrastructure and then come up with a few solutions.

The device you're looking for is called a CMTS. You could start here.

thank you Fred .
From what i understand , this type of network would not be able to provide metro ,i mean that the client modems won't be able to communicate with eachother..am i wright ?
Given this scenario ,what solution is best ?
There is a cable-network (tv) ..all houses already have cable.
There is a phone-network (digital) ..all houses already have cable..
Or is best to make a new network based on utp and fiber ?
What is the best solution in a rural area.. i mean cost effective ,most easy to implement ,and will provide the best service.Keep in mind i am talking about a village.
I thank you all for possible answers , and i'm sorry for my lack of knowledge ..but this is what i am trying to remedy , not in a proffessional manner but common sense info.
