Hello,

Been wondering what would make a LAN only run on 10mbps. I recently experienced this on two clients sites. It won't just connect when I configure the LAN to run on 100mbps. Only connects on 10mbps. What could be responsible for this? Won't this affect the performance of ones application?

If AutoNeg fails it will fallback to 10Mb. Set card for auto-negotiation.

Are u sure about that...even if auto negotiation fails i dont think it will fall-back to 10MB....unless and until one end is hard coded to 10MB or only supports ethernet not FastEthernet..

1) Checkout whether both end supports FastEthernet or any side is only Ethernet....cause Ethernet standard is 10 MB..
2) Whether your client system directly connected to Switch(By directly i mean one-to-one) or Through Patch-Pannels I/O ports ....If its conneted through patch pannels...then there is your problem..sometimes they behave abnormally cause of fault...

Try changing port of panel..

My memory is telling me that it is correct but we all know not to trust our memory. :)

Edit: Yeah, I'm wrong. 100/Half not 10/Half.
