I am currently in the reception in a hotel in Tenerife. I am able to connect without problems from here, but from my room, I am having trouble. I can see the network, even though the signal is very weak(I suspect that my wireless card sucks), and I can somewhat connect, but I get the following message: limited or no connectivity. I am not able to get an IP adress from the router. I have tried to change my settings so that I do not get an IP address automatically, but I had no luck with that. I don't get 'limited or no connectivity', but I cannot connect.

Any solutions or suggestions would be highly appreciated. (Btw, if I bought a wireless USB adapter, would that improve my signal?)

I would speak to reception. Sounds like the device is not giving out IPs. You need to ask them why

sounds silly... but have you done an ipconfig /release and /renew?

if you have, then i'd talk to the reception like mellowd said

Despite the "Limited or no Connectivity" message, have you tried starting a web browser and attempting to surf the web? Many hotel wireless networks don't hand out IP addresses until you agree to their terms of service (even if it's free wifi).

^ "Limited or no connectivity" is a 169.254.0.0/16 without a gateway assigned... No surfing the web.

I have asked the reception. They said that it would normally reach up there. I have also tried ipconfig /release and /renew, and almost all "standard" solutions. I bought a "BeeWi" BWA311 wireless usb wifi adapter, hoping to connect from my room. This one did not even pick up the signal. I do not have any experience with Wireless USB adapters. Are they fully functioning if a new network icon comes up? My computer finds it at all, but the software that came with it claims that it doesn't.
