Hi,

I need to configure QOS on a cisco router that has MPLS link of 2 Mbps which carries only voice and video traffic. Requirement is that Voice traffic should get high priority than video. After reading QOS stuff andgoing through other routers that have QOS configuration I learned that I need to create 4 classes, Avaya_RTP(EF), Voip_signalling(AF31), Video(AF41) and BGP and assign certain bandwidth for each of the class. I need to know how do I effectively divide the 2Mbps link for Voice and Video? How much bandwidth should I configure for all the 4 classes?

Thanks

Its up to you. I know with our bonded 3MB links we have to give so much Bandwidth for X amount of calls depending on what codec is being used with voice. Assuming you are using a Cisco router your MQC should not be that difficult.

do you have a QOS service level agreement with you provider? if so , use their recommended classes,
if you do not, they may remark all your traffic back to 00

QoS is an end-to-end deployment, simply marking traffic on your router does nothing for QoS,
you need to trust, mark and prioritize packets from the source to the gateway within your trusted domain.
and remark packets from sources that you do not trust.

marking BGP packets, if they are generated from the router itself, may be a problem
