In order for a SNMP management station to understand an SNMP trap sent by a device, the SNMP management station must have the MIBs installed for that particular device, right? I know that the management station must have the MIBs installed if it wants to monitor the device, but not sure if it needs them if it just wants to receive (and understand) the traps.

Thanks

No, it doesn't need them. It should just show the OID and the value as received, which likely won't make sense to anyone.

So for it to make sense I would need the MIB loaded, right?

Unless you're REALLY good at memorizing OIDs... ;)
