I'm here at work testing to see if a hwict1e1 card works on a 2821 and after taking the time tinkering with and not seeing the serial interfaces in the sh ip int brief. I come to find out to enable it with the card type command and controller t1 etc and so forth.

This is all new to me didnt even know those cmds existed. My question is where do learn the details on configuring t1 is that covered in any ccnav/ccnp v exam material. Because I was supplied the commands that i need but dont know what function they play or how they work. All i can do for right now is speculate without spending 2 hrs at work online trying to figure what the cmds mean. I do not like the idea i am blindly typing in cmds. Thanks for any and all responses in advance.

The best place to start would be the Cisco configuration guides. They will reveal all

there are two types of T1's point-to-point and channelized.

the point-to-point are easy to setup by simply adding the correct commands to the serial interface.

the channelized t1's are a bit different and need to be setup as a controller where you need to define the controller type, setup the line code and framing, and also define the number and which channels are to be used for the data.

it's a fairly simple concept. like a fractional t1,
the t1 is split into 24 (or 30 for an E1) 64K channels.
so for your 128K circuit you would use 2 64K channels,
