Genuine or not?

Fri Dec 30, 2011 1:10 pm

I have posted some GBIC's online at an auction site that are for sell. I am quite positive they are genuine but had one person inform me they are not. Was hoping you all could help me out? Outside of working with the gear I have never been big on pricing or identifying real/fake gear. Your thoughts on pricing them and if they are legit are much appreciated.

Cisco GLC-LH-SM GBIC.

GBIC's read:

GLC-LH-SM COM
30-1299-01 LN#50 7/2001
Class 1 21CFR1040.10
MADE IN MALAYSIA
SN: XXXXXXX

Pretty much, but I would simply call them by their form factor name. When someone mentions gbic to me I think of the older fat type

I'd be very cautious about using those in production. My old boss bought some of those, I laughed when he told me how much he paid and where they came from... Anyway, I tested a couple in 6500's and they worked fine for a few months then one of them died... Not sure about the other one, I think I put it in the test lab...

How much did you pay for them? Retail with Healthcare discount they are approx £350 each from a Cisco distributor.

They are working and were tested recently. I did not pay for them they just kind of came a long. Trying to sell them though.

For approaching 60 yo old farts like me you'll have to improve your photography skills - I can't read the text and what background did you use? Carpet or something? :-)

They look more real than they do counterfeit to me.

Here's what some looked like that someone at my work bought by accident.
