Password encryption for ASA 5505

Fri Aug 15, 2008 12:49 pm

I was wondering if there was any possible way to hide/encrypt the passwords that are displayed when doing a show run on a ASA 5505. I know the option on a Cisco router is service password encryption in global config mode, but I have not been able to find anything for the ASA. Does such an option exist?

Thanks in advance!

They're encrypted by default. When you do a "show run", all the passwords either show up as garbage or as *s. If you do "more system:running-config" you can view VPN PSKs and such, but not user passwords.

Ah, now that makes senses. Again, thank you very much for your help and replies.

Cheers! :D
