Dear all,

I was wondering if I can configure two firewall devices asa 5510 (each one with security bundle) at fail over station without buying the license related to the fail over state.

Please advise

Thanks in advance!

you need the license to failover. you can setup a hot spare, but cut over would be manual

What do you mean with "security bundle"? if you mean the bundle including the security plus license then you are good to go.

a hot spare could be kept close to the active unit, keeping up with the config, when updating the primary config changes,
when a failure occurs, you would just need to move the cables from the failed unit to the hot spare and all would be good.

Do a "show version" command. If you see the following line near the bottom of the screen you're all set:

This platform has an ASA 5510 Security Plus license.

If it says you have a base license then it won't work.
