Hi everyone, having a little issue setting up a brand new Cisco 5512-X firewall with IPS.

Following the quick setup manual, I plugged it in to a DHCP enabled NIC on a computer and connected to the management port on the Cisco firewall, powered it on, port lights come on on both ends, computer tries to get an IP address but for some reason is unable, and then the firewall simply switches off the port. already have tried setting up a manual IP on the computer (192.168.1.11), but no luck either.

Any ideas of what I might be doing wrong here??
any help much appreciated .

thanks

Fernando.

dhcp server should be setup but default on the firewall, simple connect your computer to the management port,
and try to git to 192.168.1.1

or use the pretty blue cable and connect your serial port/usb dongle to the console port on the firewall.
