Hello all;

I have the CCNA test scheduled for this coming tuesday. This will be my 2nd attempt.

The first attempt was a failure for a few reasons.

1. I got stuck on an OSPF sim. I did figure out the sim, but it took me too long. I should have moved on.

2. I was not completely prepared to answer supernetting questions. I believe I have that issue resolved now.

3. I was not completely prepared to answer EIGRP questions. I didn't study this routing protocol enough. I hope I have this resolved by now.

I ended up with a score of 725. I ran out of time with about 10-15 questions unanswered.

I think if I had been able to finish those last 10-15 questions, I would have passed.

I would appreciate any comments, suggestions, or any other feedback you can provide.

This cert is a requirement for my position ... and I am a little nervous. I don't want to keep spending $125 a pop. I just want this monkey off my back.

thanx in advance for your feedback.
Mark

One advice from me Mark,
Don't be nervous!
Realy, it helps. Just relax and think, that you will do it, because you can :D I am sure!!!

I passed mine the last year, with answering the last question without reading it (due to time-problems, too) But i was nervous too. Now, when i take my exams at the uni, i try to think only about the exam.
Don't think about the consequences and what happens if you fail. Because you won't. :D
Just the questions and you, and you will answer them because you know the stuff :D
Good Look!!!

and Relax :)

Hello all;

just thought I would take this opportunity to do a cyber-cartwheel...

Whoo Hooo !!!!

I kicked this test in the A##!!

scored a 907.

I got a PAT sim and an OSPF sim.

the OSPF sim was similar to the one I had on the last test.

the PAT was new ... but I was ready for it.

thanx to everyone here for the comments and knowledge sharing.

I will continue to share and learn here.

thanx again.
Mark

Hi Mark,

Just relax and take the exam, sure you will pass the 2nd time like i did.
i failed the 1st time on NAT because it was not in my fastpass book and didn't pay to much attention on it and was nervious to fail so i did.
1.5week later i did it again and was prepared for NAT (had two questions about it 1 sim) i passed with > 940 points and 30min. left

Hi Mark,
I just took the test today and I got the same score you did on the first try. I want to take the test again in a couple of weeks, but I'm at my wit's end about how to approach it. It seemed like the test questions were a LOT harder than the questions in my Cisco and Exam Cram Practice Questions books.

Can you tell me what you did to pass the second time? Did you do a lot of practice questions? Where did you get them from? How did you prepare for the second round? Please help!

Can you tell me which materials you used to study for the test?

I think I may have studied the way you studied for the first one.

Then I got to talking to one of my fellow instructors, and he hit the nail on the head.

"Did you get a lot of practice time in the lab?" he asked.

"Ooops ..." I said ...

It was in that very moment that the light bulb appeared above my head.

I pulled some bogus study guide off the internet thinking, "Ahh this will do it. I don't need no steenking lab time."

I was WRONGGGGGGGG.

Lesson learned for me.

Practice Practice Practice.

I went through the ISDN labs about 4 or 5 times. When I got an ISDN question, I knew the answer before I finished reading the question.

Not that you should rely on that. You definately want to read the question entirely. Cisco is very good at tripping you up on semantics.

hope this helps
mr

Yes, I have read some very confusing questions. You start the question ... and you think "So simple answer, I know it". But when you read it to the end you see that there is a really &$*! play with the words.
It is more confusing to people who use English as a foreign language. They realy must read the hole question, sometimes more than once, to be sure that they understand it correctly. And just than thinking about the answer.
