CLI vs Merki

Thu Mar 30, 2017 2:21 pm

I'm studying for my CCNA exam. I have access to several racks of routers and switches (via MTPutty) and am working through videos and books.

I was talking to a friend of mine who's much more advanced than I regarding networking and he sort of downgraded CLI knowledge. He admitted it was necessary to know how to configure routers and switches via the CLI but said that Meraki and the Cloud was where it's at and that when you apply for work, most companies are interested in that, not whether you know what the privileged mode on a router is.

What's the truth?

Thanks.

Unless your shop is 100% Meraki, and I have yet to see one, then you'll NEED to be *comfortable* working @ the command line...
