The question becomes what is doing the routing for this seeing that both of these switches are layer 2 only ? You will never be able to talk between subnets without a Layer 3 routing device. Those switches only need a address to manage them and for no other reason . If you do a show vlan do all the L2 vlans show up as active on both switches? You can get rid of all those "interface vlan XX " entries except vlan 100 , on the 3500 the rest serve no purpose. A quick guess would be you did not create the L2 vlans on the 3500.

@ Vipergg. I think you may be over thinking this. Yes they are both Layer 2 switches. But they are attached to a larger working network with multiple active VLAN's, a core layer 3 switch and a router. My management vlan issue has been solved by an earlier post. The current issue is I just can't get the 2940 to trunk. This should work locally in my office when connected to switch there and on the core switch, which is the ultimate plan. There must be a command I'm missing or doing wrong here.
I will post the show interface results as requested later today.
Thanks for everyone's help.
