...has gone gold. I am exploring the pros and cons now. My biggest fear is that upgrading will affect our status with the search engine spiders/bots. They bring us a lot of traffic and I'd hate to see us get put into the 'sandbox' for 6 months.

I also have to consider all the customization that I've done on the current board ie RSS, Google Map, ads, mods, etc. I've done a lot of work on this site over the past 3 years.

Be patient and if you see the board is unavailable, this is most likely why.

BTW, I'd love to hear other folks opinions on this.

Oooh, that might be cool... Never messed around with it myself. That would suck to be sandboxed by google though. Does it look like the customizations you've done will port easily?

Not sure yet. I need to make a list of mods I've done and prioritize and research them. I've started a thread re:SEO @ http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 4&t=633505.

I've got a virgin test board up at http://www.spish.net/forum for those who want to register, login, test, take a look around, etc.

Once I've got my thoughts put together and everything checks out, I will take a run at it. Maybe Christmas break?

Ian, you're a mod on the test forum so you can mess around with those functions. I created a test account and posted so you can ban, delete, etc that post. Feel free to create accounts, post, and test mod functionality. It's supposed to be 10x better than 2.0.x.

I also installed the same theme as we currently run (subsilver2). I'd like to keep it since our logo is based on that color scheme and the current advertisers have said they like the way their ads look with our current colors. I do like the roundness of the default theme though...

Thanks for the assist.

Nice! I think it looks awesome with the new color scheme!

Let me get in there and test out the mod functionality a bit. Thanks!

Guess I have to ask the age old question, what is broke about this version that is forcing us to upgrade? :)
