A lot of the fun lies in trying to penetrate the mystery; and this is best done by saying over the numbers to yourself again and again, till they pass through the stage of sounding like nonsense, and finally return to a full sense that had at first escaped notice.

Looks like the innards to a dot matrix printer.

The insides of a Heathkit H14 dot-matrix printer to be more specific.

I arranged them as a 3*11 matrix (as in dot matrix), and added each line, here's the result:

59 39 42 13 43 63 52 48 61 38 39 37 39 37 52 48 33 48

I'll now do some padding on the left side of their binary form and try to make sth up.

The binary forms here:

00111011
00100111
00101010
00001101
00101011
00111111
00110100
00110000
00111101
00100110
00100111
00100101
00100111
00110100
00110000
00100001
00110000

the contest was to decyphr the activation code, transmit it to one of Steve's robot scripts out on the internet, which would then create a new user account here, login, find the appropriate forum and thread, then post 2 messages, the second of which is
"I am very appreciated" to win the contest.

now to figure out who did it, see below for more hints on that...

F??!?!?!

here is what I have so far...

I took the original code and ran it through both Base64 and base32 conversions to binary or hex. I then took the results and tried to line them up with dot-matrix character output but got nothing. Im finding several different binary mappings for dot-matrix but non of them are lining up. But i could be doing things wrong...
