I have to say I was surprised at how well England played in the last test. With the current test I though South Africa again were on the back foot, but today they've really come back. Smith is on 165 not out, Morkel bowled 5-75. Nice.

Any other cricket fans out there? (Commonwealth people, speak up!)

The first time I went to Afghanistan I was there for 18 months. After brining up voice and data I got to dodge bullets, mortars, and dust storms while making sure the blinky lights kept blinking. During that time I also watched a lot of cricket. I still don't understand a damn bit of it.

hahaha. I've taught the mrs and she now understands, at least 50% of it. It helped that when we went to South Africa the World Cup was on so there were plently of matches to explain things

Looks like you jump around, dodge some balls, maybe catch a ball, and, get some points? And hopefully win.

Yeah I love cricket and used to play a bit.

But I do think England are playing great and hopefully they will gain confidence from this series and hammer the aussies.

Although at 312 for 2 going into day 4 sounds like a draw to me unless SA take the lead and declare for 500 at lunch.

England have improved and sadly South Africa has sunk a bit. We still outrank England in the rankings though.

I hope Smith gets his double century tomorrow. Then our bowlers need to perform

5th day of the test. Smith got 183 Not out yesterday before declaring for a total of 738.

England are on 133/3 at the moment. Meaning 333 more to win on this last day.

And don't even let me get started on how many 'England' cricketers are in fact South African!

If it was Australia chasing that you would always rate them a chance, as shown in yesterday's victory over Pakistan (who should have won easily!).
Australia 1st innings 127
Pakistan 1st innings 333
Australia 2nd innings 381
Pakistan 2nd innings 139
Australia won by 36 runs

We don't lie down until the last wicket falls or the last run is taken unlike some teams

Which other teams? ;)

Pakistan are completely unpredictable. At times they are excellent, other times useless. All teams can be like this now and then but Pakistan take it to extremes in this regard.

England could still win, but at 164/5 it's looking more and more hopeless for them.

Collingwood and Bell holding fort, ARGH.

229 needed with 5 wickets in hand.

Yeah this could be a tight one.

I'll maybe be having good old ale tonight instead of SA red.

That's 2 out! 278/7 !

Problem is, only 10 overs left and we need those wickets otherwise it's another draw!
