Yes, commercials beamed directly into your Google Goggles[TM].

Unless you use Apple products then it will be your iGlasses.

I've seen a while ago about a TV series that was only available via torrents. It was a sci-fi show and I watched one episode. Was pretty good considering it was purely free access via torrent and they encouraged the distribution. I can't find it now. uTorrent was pushing it with their program about 18 months ago.

I'll make a prediction now....

Google Goggles will be 1/4 the price of iGlasses, and have 10x the number of features, but everyone will be suckered into buying iGlasses because they are more shiny and stylish.

Torrenting , streaming (in any way shape or form) of copyrighted material by removing the ads is called theft. Let me make that clear by giving you an example. If I am a service provider that offers 20 stations and the decoder that I give to my customers has 2GB of memory , enough to record a show , but also has the ability to stop recording during the commercials and play the show later on without the ads , well , that's theft. :))

This article explains it better : http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18206803

Btw , I steal everything. I don't even own a tv :p ThePirateBay is God.

Just remember the BBC were the ones who made it law to buy a TV license to own a TV, computer, phone - ANY device capable of viewing the BBC content. The truth is, you only need a TV license to view content as it is being shown live broadcast. So, in reality the BBC stating that you need a TV license to own a smart phone or computer is complete shite.

in the UK, you need a TV license to watch TV on a TV and a TV license to watch TV shows on the PC/ipad/iphone via iplayer/itv player etc...

so are you allowed to download those shows from torrents if you have license or not allowed to ?

the great debate !!

I strongly belive that public broadcasters (non commercial entities) are the subject of strict state control and as such are just propaganda machines for the powers that be. They were relevant in the 30's but not today. I ask of you , who provides a more "public" service ? Youtube or the BBC ? They both are at a net loss , but one is a private loss and the other public.
I also believe that the digital reproduction of copywrited material is not theft unless that material has been altered or tempered in any way. Especialy when talking about the net ; information should be free. Let's put it like this : If I download a Pdf from a torrent and I read it , that's not theft. If I print it , rewrite it , sell it etc , that's intellectual theft.
If I buy a book from Amazon for my Kindle and I share it with you on this forum what is my crime ? I'm not sharing a copy of it. I'm sharing that exact same book. Those bits. To the last 1 and 0. If I buy the same book from a bookshop and a give it to you as a gift for your birthday is it also theft ?

Exactly.

In another instance,. the same show The Sky at Night was made available for many years worth of historical shows. Probably five years worth, all freely downloadable from the BBC website. The BBC all of a sudden at introducing "iPlayer" removed them all. I put in a fair amount of complaint emails but then gave up

One good thing about torrents is that you aren't reliant on one source to be able to watch a TV series, like dieselboy said, once the BBC decide to stop showing The Sky at Night, no one can view it any longer. But the way torrents work, the data is stored on a number of different hosts, and can be available for years.

Torrenting actually seems like it could be a decent backup system with the right set up.

Is it illegal truly-cloud storage?
